the next steps

Although our project was successful, improvements and modifications can be made to collect an increased amount of data on the relationship between flower type, pollen color, and different species of pollinators. In order to analyze the color of pollen found on bees, the specimens needed to be frozen, therefore killing the pollinator. Bees are already limited in our environment, and by freezing them, their numbers are further depleted. In the future, researchers should attempt to minimize the amount of bee casualties to help conserve populations. Researchers should still capture and analyze live bees, but release them when pollen color, species, and location is noted. Future research should focus on the relationship between pollen color and flower type, in order to identify which flowers pollinators are most attracted to. With this information, further promotion of bee health can be supported, as more bee attracting flowers can be planted. With a limited time frame and a budget on resources, we were unable to determine a relationship between flower type and pollen color; this would also be an interesting correlation to investigate further.
